Chinese Porcelain Jar, 18th CenturyA massive chinese porcelain Jar and cover. Beautifully proportion, depicting a pair of ferocious five-toed dragons confronting flaming pearls, amongst the scrolling clouds.
The domed lid is painted with a repeated scene of feverish dragons in a rampant pursuit and ornamented with a band of lotus petals and large lotus bud finial.
Decorated in underglaze colbalt blue,the images are heavily glazed with rich bluish tones and draping blackened pigment.
