Buddhistic Lions
Chinese mythological beast, in the form of a Buddhistic lion. Beautifully created of gray pottery, each figure crouched in an aggressive pose, displaying a ferocious facial expression with loose black eyes.The glazed surface is a reddish wine color, almost an aubergine shade, with brown spotting. The fangs and claws stand out in an ivory white. The sculptures are in excellent condition, dating from the 7-8th century, Tang Dynasty.
